Hello and Welcome to my Blog ~ I love art of all kinds. Two of my favorites are polymer clay and paper art. I have shops on Etsy that feature both of my passions. I also love writing my blog and finding artists that have a passion for their craft and feature them. I hope your day is filled with sunshine, laughter and loads of creativity.

Fairy Art Doll ~ Mannequin

This is my newest creation.

I love dressing up these art mannequins. It reminds me of when I was a little girl dressing up my dolls. I would spend hours upon hours fussing with them.

One of my dolls was a Toni doll, so I could not only dress her up, but I could fix her hair as well.  You should have seen some of the styles I came up with.  (LOL)

For this doll, I found the perfect size and color butterfly wings at Hobby Lobby, then went about    creating her dress out of matching color felt and added silk flowers for a bit of glamour.  Her hair is fashioned out of polymer clay, as are the tiny roses that match her dress.

It amazes me what can be done with an art mannequin.

She is now listed in my Etsy Shop:

Something Old and Something New

This is a Garden Angel which has been out of my Etsy shop for about four months. She needed a new background and I used Picmonkey (an editing program) to do just that.  I love the magical look of the background. I have now re-introduced her back into my shop.

This new creation was a fun one to do.  I had this little book that I bought at Michaels and wanted to incorporate it with a figurine.  I found that paper products can be put in the oven with the clay because of the low heat which makes it easy for placement. No fussing with glue afterwards.

Here is another creation that I re-introduced into my Etsy Shop.  A customer ordered two of these (without the jump rings) to put in her terrariums.  She wanted them to be peeking out among the leaves.

Cherub Pendant

Another new item I created is this sewing bug who is being very helpful by holding a spool of thread.  I used 20 gauge wire for the antennas and glass beads for the eyes.  She is only an inch and a half tall.

Fairies Love to Live in Pretty Houses.

I sold my Southwestern Fairy Door Today

This isn't your typical fairy door.  It's a house front with a Southwestern Flair.  The little fairy that lives here has long black hair swept up in a bouquet of cactus flowers and because her wings are sprinkled with fairy dust, the ever constant sun makes them glitter even more.

Her house is approximately 2.75" tall by 3.50" wide and made entirely out of polymer clay.

My Newest Fairy Door

Fairies must love the door they are about to enter and they are known to love the color purple.  This is such a pretty little doorway with the Lavender roses trailing all around it.  Little birds are bound to love the little birdbath and the doormat is sure to attract a little fairy.

Lalo is a one of a kind doll.  Painted with heat set paint and satin varnish.  He was made from Polymer Clay, oven baked and with a strong armature.  He has grey glass eyes and mahogany mohair.  All hunting gear, glasses and tank top are removable. Wings are interchangeable and one set is included.  He comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Special Inks and Polymer Clay

Posh Rainbow Inks

Posh Rainbow Inks are fantastic.  A friend of mine introduced them to me when I was creating greeting cards, but the WOW power of these inks is even more prevalent on Polymer Clay.  These inks come in a variety of colors, in earth tones or the floral brights.

I chose the floral brights for this fairy door.  The imagery is awesome and even more brilliant when you see it in person.

I named this creation 'Flowered Fairy Door' and created it for a little fairy who goes by the name of Buttercup.  She found this beautiful vase that someone had thrown away and wanted to grow some brightly colored flowers to surround her door.  She is very happy to have such a fine door, but would love to have it placed in someone's home.  Could that someone be you?

Lumere Acrylic Metallic Paints

This is another product that I love.  Lumiere Metallic Paints by Jacquard ( Pearl Collection )   The Lumiere isn't as bright as the Posh Rainbow Inks as you can see on the 'Golden Fairy Door' below, but I love the softness and the dimension that this ink provides.

The little Fairy is at home. You know how I can tell? She left her tiny purple slippers by the front door. I created this door out of polymer clay and embellished it with rubber stamps and Lumiere pearl paint.

This door stands approximately 2.5" high by 3" wide.

More About These Inks

They are fast drying and will cover blemishes in the clay very well.  You can also change the color if you are not satisfied with the one that you originally applied. The coverage works with one coat. I love the fact that the ink is water soluble, so your brushes aren't ruined.

The cost is quite high with these products, but a little goes a long way.  I suggest you use the 40% off coupons that both Michaels and Hobby Lobby provide on their websites (if they carry these products in your area)

My Fairy Homes

These are just a few of the Fairy Homes that I have created.
Sandy
Prenzi

Fairies are very particular about the homes that they inhabit. Some fairies dwell in the woods, or on the beaches, others prefer gardens or fields of wild flowers and then there are those very special fairies that love to dwell among small children. These special fairies are the tiniest of them all, each one so very beautiful with long flowing hair and twinkly eyes. They are dressed in the finest spun silk mixed with the magic of sparkling fairy dust.

It's said if you place a fairy dwelling inside your home you will soon find evidence that one of these special fairies has made it their home.

You must believe in Fairies
befor
e one will venture into your home.

Any child would be delighted to have a cake topped with a fairy dwelling. A special keepsake forever. These little fairy houses will definitely be a wonderful home for some of those very special fairies.

There are fairies that love the sound of the ocean and collect seashells to surround their homes. This little Fairy house is located on a beautiful beach with white sands. Notice all the seashells that have been collected.

Here is a perfect home for a forest dwelling fairy. They love the coziness of the forest, the sweet little birds singing in the trees and the sound of a babbling brook as it lazily runs through.

There are times that I would love nothing better than to be taken away
and live among the fairies in their wonderful world.

Fairy homes come in all shapes and
sizes. Picking one out is a lot of fun,
but having one in your home is
magical.
