When I was visiting my daughter , Trina who is an awesome polymer clay artist, she presented me with this beautiful creation of my little Penny Lane.  Trina captured the very essence of her. Tears of joy and sorrow mixed together as I soaked in this beautiful rendition, complete with one of her favorite toys.  The poem was perfect, as I am sure that I will meet her again. 

I have missed her every day since she's been gone.  There is a special place for her in my heart and I am thankful that I had her for nine years.  She filled my life with love, laughter and above all, true companionship.

Penny Lane Prenzi - August 21, 2006 - May 5, 2016

I am heartbroken.  A week ago Thursday, I had to have Penny Lane put to sleep.  She was going to be 10 years old on August 21st.  Born on my mother's birthday, I felt she was a gift from my mom who had passed away when I was only 21. 

Penny had given me so much joy with her every day antics.  She loved going out in the back yard and chase the wild bunnies that seemed to love it as much as she did.  Our yard has so much wildlife. We have possums, skunks, loads of birds and squirrels and of course the bunnies.  The squirrels would taunt her from the fence and rooftop.  They would chatter and run back and forth giving Penny quite a work-out from the ground.  

Her favorite thing to do was lay on top of the chair in the living room where she had the perfect view of the front yard and all the people with their dogs walking by.  She would announce their presence with loud barks then run to the front door just in case they dare step foot in the yard. 

How she loved her toys. The first thing she would do with a new toy is take the squeaker and all of the filling out leaving nothing but a flat piece of cloth which hardly resembled a toy at all.  She did have some stuffed toys that didn't come with squeakers that I would find in the toy isle. She would look so funny as she carted them around the house as they would hide most of her face. She always had to have a toy in her mouth.  If anyone came to visit she would run around the house to find a toy so she could greet them and how she did this was beyond me. She would bark or trumpet with the toy in her mouth and it wouldn't fall out.  She was extremely talented!!!

She was the ultimate lap dog.  I loved it so much when she would climb up onto my lap and curl herself into a little ball and go to sleep.  She loved giving kisses, going for walks and especially loved her snacks, whether it was those tiny carrots or her biscuits. She was ready for a snack anytime of the day or night. Sometimes she was stubborn about coming in from the backyard and I would have to bribe with a snack and it always worked.

Penny Lane was a beautiful little dog.  Her personality was the cutest. From the way she would cock her little head trying to understand every thing I would say to singing along with you whenever we sang happy birthday.

I truly expected to have many more years with her than I did.  Her heart was weak and all the medication and doctors that she had during the final weeks of her life couldn't help her.  She will always have a special place in my heart.  

Paper Art on Canvas

I have so many wonderful pieces that I have created that I thought it would be a great idea to put them on canvas.  I love the 3D effect that I have gotten with these.  This first one really made me laugh when I got the idea.  The whale doesn't seem very happy with his passenger and the poor bird is doing everything she can to stay atop for the ride. 

This is one of my very favorites.  The lion cub is going cross eyed looking at this huge butterfly.  I love working with decorative papers and paint.  The background has many colors giving it a mottled look. I love the greens and browns and I added a bit of orange to the background as well.

 

I did not paint the canvas on this one, but I did add some tissue paper to give it some pizzazz!!

I love the Mama and Baby Elephant. Their sweet expressions says it all.

Nursery Prints

For the past few weeks, I have been busy working on my Paper Art. All my creations are hand cut, no fancy cutting machines for this gal.  I love using decorative papers and embossing some of them to give my images a special look.  Now,  these six prints are ready to make their debut in my Whimsy Kreations Shop.

Fun with Terra Cotta Clay

As you can see, I work a lot with Terra Cotta Polymer Clay.  I love the rich color and how my finished creations look whether I have put a shiny finish on them or not.   I buy the large boxes of this clay at Michaels, but only if I have a coupon for the discount.  Here are some that I have made using this wonderful clay.

Fairy Art Doll ~ Mannequin

This is my newest creation.

I love dressing up these art mannequins. It reminds me of when I was a little girl dressing up my dolls. I would spend hours upon hours fussing with them.  

One of my dolls was a Toni doll, so I could not only dress her up, but I could fix her hair as well.  You should have seen some of the styles I came up with.  (LOL)

For this doll, I found the perfect size and color butterfly wings at Hobby Lobby, then went about    creating her dress out of matching color felt and added silk flowers for a bit of glamour.  Her hair is fashioned out of polymer clay, as are the tiny roses that match her dress. 

It amazes me what can be done with an art mannequin.

Incredible Hand Art by Guido Daniele Featuring His Handimals.

If you haven't seen Guido Daniele's Handimals, you are in for a treat.  

Guido Daniele is an award-winning artist from Soverato, Italy. Born in 1950, Daniele lives and works in Milan. Over his 40+ year career, Guido has done both commercial/advertising work as well as group and solo exhibitions around the world.

In 1990 he began to explore and experiment with body and hand painting. By having his models contort their body into specific positions, he could use his painting skills to create incredibly realistic portraits and scenes onto a living canvas. The inclusion of the human body added a new element to his work and Guido would continue to explore this new direction.

In 2000 he created his world-renowned ‘Handimals‘ series (advertising | art) that saw him paint highly detailed and realistic animals onto hands in various positions. Through manipulation and creativity, Guido masterfully takes the same starting ‘canvas’ and is able to transform it into seemingly any animal he desires. The outcomes are truly amazing.

Using Picmonkey to get Your Photographs Ready for Etsy

I am a huge fan of picmonkey, a fabulous photo editing program that I discovered a while ago.  It has all kinds of wonderful editing features that will make your photo's so much nicer.  You will love discovering all the different elements and the fun embellishments that you will enjoy with each click of the mouse.  

I used plain pink paper for the background, propped up against a cereal box.

My next step was cloning the pink to fill in the picture.

                        

  I love this background, I use it for so many of my pictures. It does change the background color, but I   really think it looks great.  As you can see,  I also added my name to the bottom.

I love the dark edges of this one.

Sometimes the white is really neat to use. it gives kind of a foggy appearance.

            You can frame your pictures if you like.  There are so many great frames 
            to choose from.

Add Photo Corners so that your photograph is ready to place in an album.

This is a really dramatic looking background.

MelodyODesigns - Wonderfully Unique Polymer Clay Jewelry
